Transfer Tension Heats up

The transfer window is finally here. Clubs up and down the English leagues are busy finding transfer targets and purchasing players. The transfer window creates varied feelings throughout the county. With feelings varying from joy to anger every fan across the UK shares the spills and thrills of the transfer window.

This season some of the biggest names in world football have been the target of a lot of transfer speculation and the whole county is on edge. The following list is the biggest transfer rumors so far this summer:

Luis Suarez

This transfer saga has left the whole country in shock. Luis Suarez is Liverpool’s top striker. He was the second top scorer in the English Premier league last season and has a reputation for goal getting. Suarez also has a somewhat in-favorable  reputation with many football fans worldwide. Suarez has had two lengthy bans in his two seasons at Liverpool, one for racism, and one for biting a players ear. This has put Suarez in a lot of trouble. However, Liverpool have stuck by Suarez over his two years as a Liverpool player. Liverpool have been quick to stand by Suarez whether it be via written statement via the media. However, this summer Suarez hit back at Liverpool stating that the UK’s media is driving him out of the country.  This sparked vicious rumors of Real Madrid being interested in the striker. However, Liverpool have stayed strong over the matter claiming that the Uruguayan is not for sales. Recently the “Suarez Saga” has heated up with Arsenal making two bids for the striker. This has caused media uproar with Arsenal meeting the clause in Suarez’s contract that makes Liverpool inform the striker that a bid has been made. It also has been reported that Suarez wants to speak with Arsenal, just a weeks after  saying that he wants out of the country. This saga is likely to continue throughout the transfer window, the only question is will he stay?

Gareth Bale

There is no doubt that Gareth Bale was the Premier League’s top player last season with multiple awards being handed his way. However, the future of the Welsh superstar is unknown with Spanish giants Real Madrid looking at the player. Like Suarez, Gareth Bales future is in the balance with both Tottenham and the player showing uncertainty.  One thing that is for certain is Bale’s price tag. There is no doubt that Tottenham will be wanting a possible world record breaking fee for the Welshman. Bale was Tottenhams “Go to guy” last season and without him there will be a definite dent in the Tottenham squad. The whole of the UK’s football fans are certainly fixed with this potential transfer, the only Question is: Will Bale go?

Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas is one of the worlds best midfield players. He started his career at Arsenal and made his debut at the tender age of 16 years old. From then Cesc Fabregas became an Arsenal hero with many fans, until Barcelona came in for him. This left Arsenal fans heartbroken with many fans feeling betrayed. However, things haven’t been so rosy for Fabregas in Barcelona, and speculation that Manchester United want the player has significantly heated up over the past weeks. This has angered Arsenal fans even more as their beloved fans favourite may possible move to their bitter rivals. This transfer is more likely to drag on until the end of the transfer window as both Manchester United and Barcelona are yet to agree a fee. Fabregas has kept silent throughout the saga however Barcelona player Alex Song has stated that Fabregas is 100% staying at Barcelona. This transfer has captured national attention with many fans and journalists monitoring the situation on a regular basis. I personally think that it will be more than interesting to see what jersey Cesc Fabregas will be wearing next season.

After Sheffield Wednesday narrowly avoided relegation last season, they will look to build on last season with an opening day victory. However, Queens Park Rangers stand in their way. QPR got relegated from the premiership last season and will want to bounce straight back into the big time. This game should be a close affair and it will be interesting to see what the result will be.

Derby County vs Blackburn Rovers

Fans of both Derby County and Blackburn Rover will believe that their team belongs in the Premiership. Both teams find themselves languishing in the second tier of English football and both will be desperate to get promoted this season. Both teams have made a few summer signings and the game will be an interesting watch as the youth of Derby come up against the more experienced Blackburn Rovers side.

BBC To Show Live FA Cup Matches From 2014-15 Season

facup-940The BBC has secured a four-year shared rights deal with BT Sport that will see both broadcasters show the FA Cup from the start of the 2014-15 season. The deal was announced at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday and BBC director general Tony Hall said “Working closely with the FA I believe we will change the way we view the FA Cup forever.”

Details of how many games will be shown live by the BBC have yet to be released. Radio coverage of the FA Cup also continues on BBC Radio 5 live until 2018.

BBC head of TV sport, Philip Bernie, said: “It is a wonderful fit between the BBC and the FA Cup – all that tradition, all that romance, all that drama.
“We’re thrilled. We think it will provide great value for licence fee payers in the way the whole narrative of the FA Cup unfolds. We’ve had to work hard at it but we think it is something the BBC should have.
“It just shows how important sport is to the BBC and how those really big national events that sport brings, bringing the entire nation together, are so vital to make the BBC feel absolutely part of the nation’s fabric and this is a prime example.”

Brazil Claim Their Third Consecutive Fifa Confederations Cup

Brazil Claim Their Third Consecutive Fifa Confederations Cup

172029102Five-time world champions Brazil ended Spain’s 29-match competitive unbeaten record and signalled their intent ahead of next summer’s World Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over the reigning World champions. History was against Vicente Del Bosque’s Spanish side. Brazil have not lost a competitive match on home soil since 1975 and you have to go back to 1934 to find the last time Spain had beaten them in a competitive match, home or away.

Fred scored twice, but Neymar yet again stole the show, scoring Brazil’s second goal with a fearsome left footed blast. On the night nothing went Spain’s way and even when they won a penalty as Marcelo flicked a leg at substitute Jesus Navas, Ramos pulled his shot tamely wide, much to the delight of the Maracana. With 22 minutes to go Gerard Pique was sent off after he took down Neymar as the last man to cap off a miserable evening for the defending World Cup champions.

At the final whistle, the Brazil fans proudly chanted ‘the champions are back’. The streets around the Maracana Stadium was a place of contrasts. While protestors clashed with police a mile or so away, tens of thousands of Brazil fans danced in the streets.

Tevev Seals Move To Juventus

BNtp20DCEAEfZOgCarlos Tevez has completed his £12m move to Italian champions Juventus. Manchester City and Juventus reached an agreement at a meeting in London on Tuesday. The deal is worth an estimated 12 million, an initial fee of £10m that could rise by £2m with add-ons. The move ends Tevez’s seven-year stay in England after spells with West Ham, Manchester United and City.

Hundreds of Juventus fans turned up at Milan’s Malpensa airport to welcome the player. Juve announced his arrival with a picture of him alongside club president Andrea Agnelli holding the number 10 shirt. Tevez revealed upon his arrival in Italy that he had rejected interest from AC Milan to make the move to Juventus.

City must now search for a replacement but have said they will not pay the £53m asking price for Napoli forward Edinson Cavani.
